Friends of the Possenhaus and of the Moselle
folklore
a.s.b.l.
The association “Amis du
Possenhaus et du Folklore mosellan a.s.b.l.” (Friends of the
Possenhaus and of the Moselle folklore) is an association
with no commercial aim, founded on October 26, 1972 by
Martin Gerges, teacher, Joseph Gloden, solicitor, Robert
Goldschmit, painter, Joseph Hess, honorary teacher, Prosper
Kayser, anaesthetist, and Georges Muller, teacher.
The founding members constituted the first management
board, managing the association, and comprising between 5
and 11 persons, in particular:
Prosper Kayser – Chairman
Martin Gerges – Vice chairman
Joseph Gloden – Secretary
Robert Goldschmit – Treasurer
Georges Muller – member
Since then, the association has its registered office in rue
Aloyse Sandt, known as “Wëttelsgaass”. The house “Possen”
has been acquired in 1967 by Prosper Kayser, motivated by
the desire to keep and to promote the Moselle heritage.

The
aim of the “Amis du Possenhaus et du Folklore mosellan
a.s.b.l.” therefore takes this same order of ideas: :
-
preserve the historic, artistic, and folklore heritage
of the Luxembourg Moselle
-
acquire objects connected to the history, art, folklore,
and the work on vine and wine
-
collect and manage gifts and inheritances
-
organise exhibitions of public and private collections,
and manage these collections
-
organise meetings of friends and folklore
-
manage the premises reserved to members of the
association
In order to achieve its aims, the
association organises conferences, exhibitions, excursions,
and visits. The activities of the “Friends of Possenhaus”
are listed under “News”
on this site.
Similarly, the association lobbies individuals as well as
administrations in order to achieve its goals.
Thus -thanks to the commitment of the association, and more
particularly that of Prosper Kayser- the State-approved “Possenhaus
foundation” was created in 1993. It has essentially the
same aims as the association, but its judicial form and its
convention with the State and the
borough of Wellenstein,
facilitates reaching those aims.
Since its creation, the “Amis du Possenhaus et du Folklore
mosellan” have organised -among other- numerous exhibitions,
guided visits and themed evenings in its charming “Wäistuff”
tasting room in the “Possenhaus”, created in 1977 and
renovated in 1994.
The current management board is composed as follows:
Nicolas Strotz, Bech-Kleinmacher – chairman
Prosper Kayser, Bech-Kleinmacher – vice chairman
Gilles Estgen, Wellenstein – secretary/treasurer
Jacqueline Bastian, Frisange – member
Xavier Buschmann, Grevenmacher – member
Joseph Gloden, Grevenmacher – member
Constant Infalt, Stadtbredimus – member
Henri Klees, Fentange – member
Georges Muller, Luxembourg – member
